Hecatomb

In a fast moving swamp heavy deck this card is awsome.....I have a 60 card deck with 25 swamps and this card rocks

This goes well with things like Abyssal Persecutor, Phyrexian Negator, or some other such creature that you will probably want to dump at some point in the game. I could see a deck possible of doing something like this... T1: Swamp, Dark Ritual, Phyrexian Negator. T2: Swamp, reassembling Skeleton, attack with Negator for 5. T3: Swamp, Bubbling Muck, Abyssal Persecutor, attack with Negator for another 5, (and maybe the skeleton for another 1). T4:Swamp, Attack with all three creatures for a total of 12. Provided your opponent hasn't interfered yet, this puts him at 0 life. Now play Hecatomb, and sac your 3 creatures. That's probably game. And if somehow your opponent has survived, There is a good chance you will be able to finish him off anyway with your swamps. Overall I think this is an under-rated card that can be very nasty in a deck built to make use of it.

not bad if you're not playing 'counterspell' or its ilk. basically, in a real life game situation, your opponent's dead. sometimes on the same turn as when you drop this pile of putrid lovin' on him. i don't know why its not as popular today, although blue mages are as big a nuisance as they were back then if not more. especially in the tournament environment................
