Elephant Ambush

... I like the idea of putting an elephant into play at instant speed for four mana, but the flashback cost of this card just ruins every reason to be playing with this. I mean, I'd wish they had just made it uncommon and make the Flashback cost the same as the casting cost. Sure, Roar of the Wurm utterly overpowers this card when combined with Wild Mongrel, but this card is charming in a sort of way. I mean, just look at the art - it's really awesome! Wish they'd made that art for Call of the Herd, cuz I like this one better >_>. Still though, I guess it's an okay card when you compare it to other commons, but if you really want some real 3/3, instant speed action, you need to get some Brairhorns instead.

anyhow, I think the Elephant Ambush deserves 3/5, since it probably did really good when it came out. Remember, back in the days, a 3/3 for 3 mana with no drawback was rare. Nowadays, you can have a 2/3 vampire with flying, deathtouch and lifelink (Vampire Nighthawk), and it's still not rare!

The fact that it's an Instant is a bit of an up over Call of the Herd (same effect, but a Sorcery) in that Elephant Ambush can be used to create a surprise blocker or be played at the end of your opponent's turn to effectively give the Elephant haste, but its steep casting cost is a strike against it.

Roar of the Wurm destroys this card.

It is the same as the other card from odyssey but costs 12 mana for two 3/3s instead of 7 mana
