Okay, think about this. Either use buried alive or entomb to bury this card in the graveyard. If you have it in your hand discard it with something like lightenning axe. Also try to get Bladewing the Risen in your graveyard at the same time. Use exhume to bring back bladewing and you'll also be able to bring back Vampiric as well because it is a dragon. Next turn, using seething song plus whatever extra red mana you have with Vampirc's ability to deal direct damage for one colorless and one red to all your oppenents small 1/1 or 2/2 creatures. For six mana, if they have three one ones, you can make it a permanent 8/8. You can do all this by fourth or fifth turn too. Then you can hit your oppenent with an 8/8 Vampiric dragon and a 4/4 Bladewing the Risen.

This is my all time fav cared and i have no problem bring him out in my red green deck(of cours my BOP is in it and llanowar pulsle and elvish piper) and when i have it out it means game over for my friends. But gething him out early its the key. With elvish piper in play its mana cost is a simple 1g mana. So this is y i whant to buy more cuz 1 isnt enough

The best Way to play this card is with a bunch of small goblins so you get your opponent down and when you can't attack anymore you keep those small goblins and wait for this card and boom you bring this card out and kill all your goblins and make this gain fear or unblockable and booooom there dead

this is a gret monster that grows and for the time it takes to get it out well just let me tell you throw a exhume in your deck and he might be out in three turns THINK ABOUT IT

All you whiners that complain about casting cost don't know how to play real magic. If you did you would know there are ways around that. And the fact that he can do damage to multiple targets in one round makes him invaluable.

This card is awesome, it's a hellkite (i've always loved hellkites(especially firestorm), and it gets pumped for killing. Breat card. And Reveiw #5, it might cost 8 mana but only 2 of those mana are colored, meaning you could throw some green mana-makers (like llanowar elves or birds of paradise) and get the 8 quicker.

Sweet card all by it self but combo it with venomus fangs and you pretty much win.

The Vampiric Dragon is one of the best cards yet.
You kill their creaters and make yours bigger.

8 mana? For more 1 mana I prefer cast a dragonstorm and bring him and his friends to play.
However it's a good card.

could be good in a burn/creature removal deck. Try using Death Pits of Rath from Tempest to really make him shine. And for mana accleration in type 2 there's always cabal coffers.

This card is easier to put into play than it looks. With a second turn Book Burning, third turn Thunderscape Familiar, and fourth turn Cabal Ritual, you can get this thing out on turn four (unless taking 6 damage for 2 mana is your opponent's idea of a good time) with a mana to spare for a Duress or anything else you need to play. Or you could always reanimate it. Once it's in play, you can keep making it bigger (especially if you have a Varchild's War-Riders.) This isn't the best creature in the game, or even in Odyssey, but it isn't the worst.

wel even in an afforible type 1 deck. this card could be cast in the second turn... ( atleast in my deck it happens all the time)...

you open with a badlands and orisch lumberjack, second turn you get an bayou . you tap /( sacrifice the bayou to the lumberjack you got 3 mana... red and green to your choosing... ) from the tap you use the 1 black mana you got for an dark ritual. and then you cast a timberwall. sacrifice it for 2 red mana... and you got 8 mana rdy for this beast... or as i prefer an shivan hellkhite or shivan dragon... :)

but as for it being good.. wel basicly its an sengir vampire crossed with an shivan hellkhite.... so i aint gonna say its that good.... its mana cost is alot... and thats a big draw back..

He's big, he's mean, he's nearly impossible to cast. Forget about him in tourneys. Still is a huge threat in multiplayer...try g/r/b w/ pulse of llanowar, new frontiers, and a legacy weapon to make people cry...aether burst him when an opponent has one out w/ a lot of counters to make him/her whine. Is hard to sell or trade...I have 5 and can't get rid of him

first of all, to all the newbs of magic who thinks any card is a good card if it has a power of five- yer dumb. This card costs eight mana, and both the colors it requires have no mana acceleration. black had dark ritual in extended but now thats gone too. EIGHT for a 5/5 flier isnt good at all. the fact that it gets bigger when it takes down a creature isnt much of an upside. if it hits the board there are numerous ways to deal with it. the only ability it has that is really worth anything it the ability to ping creatures without it tapping. Other than that: 3 stars.

this card isn't as good as you may think. vampiric dragon is a blown up version of sengir vampire. sengir vampire cost 3 less to cast and its a 4/4
