Of course the land is better - but the key difference for 99% of the players is that this costs $100+ less than Tabernacle of Pendrell Vale.
This card sees play in Angel Stompy in Legacy, and you might as well pick up a playset for this price - if for trade-bait if nothing else.

The original Tabernacle at Pendreval is better since you can whip it out a lot quicker thus slower down your opponent from turn 1 or 2. Very useful against decks with many creatures such as goblin, fish or red/green agro. Still think the land version is better though.
