Yeah its not force of will, and its not like $ a piece for these either. Combine these with force of will and misdirection plus other counterspells. Use in a mono blue deck that it literally half islands and u can counter the entire game, every single spell your opponent plays.

I run a playset in conjuction with Rhystic Study for card advantage///slow opponent mana usage to prevent my card advantage, and Gush, with Volrath's Shapeshifter as the main kill. It's U/B that uses Tortured Existence so I can constantly recycle my choice creature back to the top of my graveyard, or activate it twice to return a Phage, the Untouchable for example back to my hand while discarding a Polar Kraken, then doing it again~discarding Phage to the top of my graveyard and returning Polar Kraken back to my hand. The deck is kinda tricky at first but very rewarding to win with.

Great alternate casting cost counterspell on a budget, prefered over Thwart, card disadvantage Vs. FoW but not everyone can afford $50 for 1 FoW; though in certain builds that want cards in your grave Foil is prefered over FoW.

In my opinion, better than Force in Oath decks.

This card offers a counterspell, but at a very hefty card disadvantage. You have to pitch one of your islands, plus another card. This makes this card hard to play in a multi-colored deck, both because of the fact that you must pitch an island and because it casts for 2 blue. This is good mid-game when you want to tap out to play a big spell and still want to counter the next turn, but I think that the card disadvantage is too high a price to pay for a counter. The only other thing this card is good for is a first turn counter. Force of Will, however, is far superior.
