Extirpate This!
While the prior 2 reviews highlighted the obvious benefits of recycling, I appreciate the added protection it brings against the dreaded Thoughtseize/Extirpate combo! Hallelujah!

I love this card oh soo much... I use it in my "Cycle" deck and with fluctuator in play I unlimitedly cycle through and play out my whole deck repeatedly; Songs of the Damned/Lotus Petals combined with Null Profussion to maintain card draw and not stop the deck and kill with Consume Spirit.

Or I use this card to completely shut down Reanimate and Dredging decks

Yes, yes, YES! I was looking for a multi-use card for Mesmeric Orb. This, that, and Energy Field means you're immune to damage, can't be milled, and your mill cards are recycled. Excellent

Man...this is just hilarious against those Sanity Grinding + Twincast milling decks. Or any other milling deck. It can also let you get a lot more out of your Invincible Hymns. And for two mana, you can back it up with a guttural response (or two or three) or actually leave mana open for a Negate/Rune Snag/whatever.

Good sideboarder. Prevent yourself from being decked; meddle with opponents' graveyard decks; or my personal favorite.. combo this with Energy Field to make your friends hate you when you get it out

In the right circumstances (playing against a black deck, enchant your opponent) it can be a real nuisance to your enemy, especially as you can get it out so early in the game with its cheap casting cost. All their gravediggers, Phyrexian delvers, and other spells and abilities which might enable them to drag powerful stuff from their graveyard into play are neatly countered, and they can kiss their threshold goodbye too.

Of course, as a nostalgist for the older cards, I find Night Soil does a good job too, also helping you keep your own graveyard in order (thus fending off the dreaded Avatar of Woe), and giving you Saproling tokens to boot.
