this would actually be really difficult to work around for royal assassin. this has vigilance. royal assassin can kill attacking creatures. if this never taps when it attacks royal assassin can't do jack.

I really enjoy this card w/ exalted and the newer exalted meanies from Conflux like Guiltspire Avenger, Aven Squire, or the K/A Noble Hierarch. Untap either the noble for mana or the Avenger to destroy the 1 creature that opponent could attack with this turn, assuming you don't block it with the stoic angel.

Ha, so Lightning Angel has return. But in the form of a control card now. I'd have to say, I like the new version. Replacing the haste ability with only one creature untapping every turn? I mean, this card should see alot of play. I wish i could give it more stars though... :(

I've started to run this in my version of the now-popular 5 Color Control deck. This, coupled with Cryptic Command, is often game over for creature based aggro decks. Here's how it works: with a Stoic Angel in play, during your opponent's turn, play Cryptic Command in response to something: counter a spell, for example, and then choose "tap all creatures your opponents control." Suddenly your opponent is forced to untap just one creature a turn, while you start flying in for 3+ a turn with your Stoic and some other creature. This can be a game breaker for decks like Kithkin, RDW, or (sometimes) fairies.

this will really mess your opponents up if you add in concerted effort with this. You never have to worry about your creatures tapping again (unless they play a messed up blue control). Very nice.

To bad it wouldn't work that well with Royal Assassin, still a great card.
