this is one of my big kills in my Equipoise/Sands of Time deck. This and Hunted Dragon. Too bad it uses Mana Vault, Sol Ring and Mana Crypt so I can only use in casual

As someone said earlier - blow up the world (Obliterate anyone?) and remove all but one counter from him in response. Next turn you'll be beating for 9 damage a turn while your opponents are sitting with no mana and no creatures to help them - an old trick, but it still works nicely.

I use these cards with the Gargadon - Jhoir's Timebug, Threaten, Rift Elemental, Unwilling Recruit, Grab the Reins, and Dominus of Fealty. Very nice stuff. Threw in some direct damage to help clean up a bit. Works very well when you can sac your opponents creatures. threw in a couple of Insurrections, just in case the game lasts long enough for me to use.

Ok...could someone *please* tell me why people keep saying, "Take off all but one counter from this bad boy to put pressure on your opponent" or something like that?? Why not just take off all of them...?
Aaaanyway in a storm deck it works great, but a 9/7 for one works in any deck. Add 4 Paradox Hazes :D

Play Balance (or Wrath, or what-have-you), and respond by sacrificing enough permanents to get this fellow down to one counter. Good times!

Not perfect, but seriously awesome. Funny noone's even mentioned the use he poses having a TEN manacost, Riddle of Lightning anyone?

Not a 5/5, but useful in decks that can use it. For one red mana, he can be a good means to sac your creatures for other combos, or just be a looming presence while you play your own board-clearing cards, such as Wrath of God or Apocalypse or something. If anything, he can be a backup plan if your creatures keep getting destroyed by your opponent's spells. By the time this guy comes out, he'll have expended most, if not all, of his creature control stuff anyway (to which you'll have sacrificed your guys), and you'll have a nice 9/7 beatstick to whack him with.

Wow, the guy who rated this a 1 has no creativity. Whatsoever. This card is an awesome beatstick in almost any deck, and he's nigh broken in decks that use it very effectively, such as the new T2 Revellark combo deck. It doesn't have trample? Big woop. It's freaking enormous and you only ever spend one red mana for him.

But, of course, I know absolutely nothing about Magic, the card is sold out just because people like the art.

4/5 becuase some decks can't run this bada** quite as awesomely as some can, but it's still extremely good by itself.
