Easily the best planeswalker ever printed, but it's banned now. Watch the price plummet.

And sickle... you're playing magic entirely wrong. That's not how any of those cards work. Neither of those cards give any sort of bonus whatsoever to planeswalkers. Even if you were to make them artifacts or creatures, they don't affect their loyalty counters.

I still think he is very overrated. Herre is what i view to be a non broken Jace:
+2 (Fateseal)
-1 (Brainstorm)
-14 (Deck Rape)
Do you all agree? I think he loses half his value at least but this makes him still flavourful, playable, but you have to be working towards his ultimate, at which point i think he becomes an average planeswalker. I hateeeee how they make him so cheap. This guy right here costs 3UU or maybe even 3UUU. Thats fair, chandra ablaze? To much to be playable. I have never had a problem with him at all, I just slam him next turn with a bolt and an abyssall persecutor, and my oopponent essentially just payed 2UU for a brainstorm. If you cant back him up with wall of denials or real creatures like baneslayer angel, then you don't know what your doing, you just wasted 85$ for nothing more than a creature distraction. Need to use it at the right time and with the right abilities. The ultimate is so far off and not even too great, its just almost out of question. I think ive won more games than not after being "Jaced", because my opponents just keep losing life. His ultimate has no immediate game change.

This is the best card ever printed. Not only is he for control decks, you can put him in a Tempered Steel deck too. Turn 3, Tempered Steel. Turn 4, Jace comes with 5 loyalty counters instead of 3 because of Tempered Steel. Then use Giant Growth and he gets 8 Loyalty Counters. I do have one question though: Does he lose the 3 Loyalty Counters at the end of the turn or does it stay?

It's obviously a five-star planeswalker. Not many cards have the equivalent of "Remove a few counters: Target player concedes." But he's got one serious weakness...

The best planeswalker ever printed by far. Any standard deck without Jace is probably a losing deck. Even being a 4 drop, it is still very playable in Legacy though not as strong.

This is the swiss army knife for any blue deck. It combines 3 cheap blue spells into a single card; brainstorm, unsummon, and eye spy. Too bad Jace cost more than 300x the price of the individual blue spells hes made of. Hes expensive because hes quite powerful in Standard but the same can't be said about Legacy or Vintage. Overpriced but great if you get one out of a booster for standard.

The worst thing to happen to MTG in recent times. Obviously too powerful. One of those, in standard you are either WITH him.. or AGAINST him. If you are against him you pretty much HAVE to have access to Instant speed direct damage (Might kill him)/ Vampire Hexmage (Will kill him)/Waking Lands (best of which is Creeping Tarpit.. which might kill him)/ Your own baby Jace to remove them both from the board (YAY)/ Memoricide (if not counterd[probably will be] gets rid of him before he's even a threat)/Grave Titan (probably countered or bounced, if bounced then his tokens should kill him) and that is about it for your standard options. Or your with him. (too much money/not enough brains to not spend a small stack on a piece of cardboard) More kills lie in extended, most of which are also absurdly priced staple cards. (I.E. Maelstrom Pulse) He's too powerful and never should have been printed as is. (but wotc needed a good reason to raise sales of sealed product) If a planeswalker kill card were printed his power would be justifiable. (should look something like 3 colorless for a sorcery whos extra costs are pay 3 life, discard a card, play only during your first main phase before any other spells, you cant play creatures this turn) *laughs*

It's the most powerfull planeswalker by far. I use it on a blue/green deck with lorescale coatl (great combo with his brainstorm ability), garruk and doubling season (works great with both planeswalkers on the deck). :D

i lol at people saying the card will go down and that it sucks, if you lose after you stick this card 1 of 3 things are going on 1, you are so far gone anything you do will lose the game, 2, you hae no diea how to play the game properly/are a bad player and/or 3, you cant build a deck to save your life
simply 7 of 8 top worlds decks played 4 of him for standard, if price drop at all only when rotation hits then in time i think it will come up just for collectors, his value is shown in price packs 200 for a box is high (for standard) and this is pretty much the only notable card (other than manlands) and the only card you can pull to even come close to paying off your box

Any person rating below 5 stars has to have something very wrong with them. No need to explain the card, if you're not an idiot, you'd realize his 3 playable abilities are amazing. Control? Counters? Seems to be in every standard tournament-winning deck, Jace, The Mind Sculptor is present.. Get your facts straight, most rock either: 4 Sculptor. or 4 Beleren. or 3 Sculptor, 3 Beleren. Either way, You need to have an answer for Jace.

Yeah this Jace is pretty sick, and will continue to dominate the format for a good while. His first 3 abilities are classic blue spells and his final really shows the power of this dominating blue mage. And Maro Orange above, it sounds like there's a problem with the rest of your deck, not with Jace.
0

The problem is not with jace, but with the rest of your deck.
I need some fore my blue mill/prolifforate...
Heheheh, hoping it will go down in price soon
(by the way, if you hate your jace so much you can give him to me:))

..5 stars for jace, ey mora from outerspace , I think you just put this awesome card in your stupid deck , this card alone cannot win you in a game so dont focus on jace too much , but with a little bit help of other cards then for sure it might win you , you said that your friend beat you with his creatures? What is that ?, jace is commonly used in a UW control deck , if creature is your problem then splash them out with WOG or DOJ ...

I disagree with the last poster. This card is awesome!!! It's worth it's $80+ price tag. If it wasn't a game winner then why would most competitive deck builders use it?

Is that so...? I think the people who stick with Brainstorm never face this Jace on the board. (I assume that he just playing with his mother or numb players). When first I look this card, I think the same as you (that I prefer Brainstorm) because it's quick as 1 blue mana instant. But when my opponent plays Jace and I'm stuck of counter (that's time is crap that I don't have Force of Will or Daze in my hand) then I realize how difficult to handle this one. If I don't bounce it with Vapor, then my opponent will get Brainstorm each turn!!! And unfortunately, he also bring Jace and Brainstorm together..... so if you can handle Jace, then he still can use Brainstorm to get another solution. And what's more... you're wasting your time and spell to handle that it.

I agree to use Brainstorm, especially for Legacy and Vintage. But my friend, we're talking about standard format.... not Legacy or Vintage. I believe you don't have this card, if you have then you'll never talk like that... I am Legacy player, and I buy Jace the Mind Sculptor 4. At once, I buy them just for collection, but I try to including this card in Legacy tournaments, the result is "not strong enough against combo deck" like Tendrils and Two-lands Bellcher, but well worth against Merfolk, Goblins, Survival, and the other common decks.... I won 3rd because of this card. Thanks Jace.

Above customer who said Nicol Bolas is beter is crazy, Nicol costs 8 mana of three different colours, he's just too pricy, if there was anyone who might be more powered than Jace, it's Tezzeret (the only PW played in Vintage if you notice). Elspeth is close behind Jace, and all I gotta say is I can't wait for Venser, the three of them will pwn together in my U/W control deck!

One of the easieest 5-star ratings I've ever had to give. And it's still worth fishing for him in Worldwake packs due to many useful cards. Manlands, Persecutors, Sparkmages, various allies. The list is too big to name. I've never been able to pull one to date, so Jace, the House Payment is still eluding me. Would happily run 2-4 in my planned UB midrange deck, even post-rotation.

The ultimate control card: it fateseals, it draws, it unsummons and it has a built in win condition. Oddly, it's the fateseal ability that makes him incredible sick. This definitely ranks as one of the best cards ever printed.

Jace the Mind Sculptor has brought something back to the formats, Standard especially. As a 4 mana house, he will continuously up your tempo throughout the game, and if you get to the point you have 100% lockdown on your opponent. I see him being used as 4 of in decks when alara block is gone, hes just that damn good.

Of course it still work in extendeed. I had try this card with my Faerie Deck. During your opponent's upkeep, I play Mistbind Clique... to tap all lands that player control. Then In my turn, I used Jace to bounce my Mistbind... (after the Mistbind attack) and at the next opponent's upkeep, play Mistbind again... and again.... it buys all the time to win the game...

Dude, this best card ever by itself. one time i used his maximum ability right? so my opponent was lucky to have 7 cards in his hand and i was at 1 life. so he was like, "oh, i still have time. i can beat him." but no, i just had to use a keening stone on him. do you know what was even better? the guy had exactly 7 cards in his graveyard. Boom boom go bye bye. >:)

With Gideon Jura in play, Jace the Mind Sculptor will become a great threat!!! Gideon will protect Jace by redirect any damages to him instead of player/your other planeswalker, and if Gideon's loyality is low - use it's 0 ultimate ability (becomes 6/6 human soldier creature) and bounce by Jace. Cast Gideon again to protect your Jace and the other planeswalkers!!!

Although I hate WOTC when they restricted Brainstorm in the vintage, but I apreciate they work after give another solution of the card drawing. You may think that this card is not able to used in the vintage, but you will see that this card is so powerful (as the vintage is not so many removal spells). This Jace can give you Brainstorm each turn, Unsummon, or control the next draw of any player!!! Also when you reach 12 loyalities, the game is all but over!!

this card is awesome. i use it in my blue mill deck. even though the last ability is basically a sure win, i rarely use it. i prefer to use his first, put the opponents top card on bottom, then play Tunnel Vision. name the card you just put on bottom, and as long as its the only one still in the deck, you win in 2 turns :P

There's a part of me that wants Wizards to reprint this come time Zendikar is out of Standard, but the rational side of me knows this will probably be the only four move planeswalker and might be worth a bundle in the future if it's never reprinted like some of the older cards.

Are you guys F'ing mad?! The expensive cost is only 4! 4 mana for a free brainstorm every turn and if your opponent manages to play a creature card that poses a threat, -1 for a boomerang. First, you beef him up by putting their powerful creatures on the bottom of their libraries then, you either boomerang or brainstorm AND if you are doing your job right he has no mUSAore library but the cards that were in his hand!

TOTALLY AWESOME. Besides this card being probably the best planeswalker. Chan's artwork is second to none. I bought the FOIL version from Troll and Toad; I know.... YAH, YAH, YAH! an expensive foil. But I had to have him. And T & T always sends cards that exceed my own grading criteria. Jace stands right beside my FOIL Goyf in terms of GORGEOUS FOILS. After looking closely at World Wake, I have come to the conclusion that this is a pretty good set. I originally only bought 1 booster box from T&T but have ordered 1 more since. Bottom line.....5 STARS across the board for the Sculptor.

Pulled this in my last pack out of the 8 prize packs I got for being in the top 8 at the midnight pre-release of WorldWake. I put it in my Fire & Ice control burn T2 deck, got 3rd place in the tournament with it in my deck and took out my opponent in the 1st round when I got this and M2010 Chandra out and the Sphix protecting both. He wanted to survive the burn so he aimed at Chandra first not expecting her to live long enough to see Jace get 13 Loyalty Counters. Made him say good by to his library and turn his hand of 3 cards into his new library. 3 turn clock put him down. Love this card.

Jace, the Mind Sculptor is absurdly powerful. His first ability can control your topdeck or your opponent's, which is actually very useful, especially in a color that is all about control. He has a ZERO cost Brainstorm! He can protect himself with Unsummons... and his last ability is more of an "I win" button than has been printed on any other planeswalker. He is phenomenal.

Great planeswalker, but not the best! Honestly I understand and have played with and against this card enough to totally respect its power, but it is not the most effective Planeswalker I've come across. That title goes strictly to Nicol Bolas! Then Jace Mind Sculptor, then Elspeth. Great card though, and I love him in by Black/Blue control deck.

Jace finally met the banhammer. And though I hear people complaining that he and Stoneforge Mystic were going to rotate out of standard later this year and that the ban was therefore unnecessary, I still think sooner is better. With those cards in standard, M12 would hardly have had any impact on the standard environment, perhaps aside from giving the decks playing Jaces and Mystics more toys to play with. Those decks were overpowered to the extent where the vast majority of top-winning decks in standard were playing multiple copies of each of those cards.
Such situations ruin the game to the point where you either have to play Jaces/Mystics, or completely forget everything about competing in the standard environment.

I give it 3 stars because it is obviously a super powerful card.

However I think it should've never been released. It detracts from the game and almost any standard blue deck without Jace is worse than a deck with Jace. Meaning, to be a good blue player you need to spend alot of $$.

It makes the other Jace planeswalker look like a Portal card, or a baby Jace. With Sculptor you get to BRAINSTORM for 0 cost, with Belerin you only get to draw for -1. The +2 Beleren ability sucks most of the time while Mind Sculptor's is rarely bad. The power disparity between the two Jaces is just a bit sickening.

I gave Jace 2 stars because he has lost me so many games, I played with my friend and i played jace and then i branstormed and i didn't get any good cards to deal with my friends creatures. This card will go down in value just like badslayer angel.

So its better than the other jace. That doesn't make it good. As a plansewalker, unless you already have complete control over the board (and have thus essentially already won), it will die the attack phase after it hits the table. So this is basically 4 mana for 3 life and your choice of brainstorm, fateseal, or a bounce spell. Not a completely awful deal, I'll agree, but I'll stick with my 1 mana brainstorm, thank you very much.
