when ran in a vampire deck, Kalitas, Bloodchief of Ghet suddenly turns into Kalitas, Raper of Souls. think about the huge vampire you could get, an opponent brings out a 7/7 beast for 12 mana and you kill it for 3 mana and get a vampiric drone of said Creature. sure his casting cost could be lower, or he could have flying, but i believe his ability makes up for his high casting cost and lack of flying, there are also ways to give him flying (bladed pinnions)

It is soooo god, every turn, you lose a creature of my choice, and I begin to annihilate you with your own creatures. Friggin nuts, very good card.

I have this card. At least four stars. No wonder hes out of stock, who cares you have to tap him! Every turn for only 3 LITTLE MANA, Your opponent loses a powerful creature, and you get it. NO BETTER WAY TO DOMINATE THE BOARD. Every next turn, your opponent is more and more desperate. LOVE THIS ONE.

It's cost is the only major downfall I see with this card (unless someone running a U/B deck has the Worldwake card that steals an opponents creature). But mix it in with some of the new artifacts and other cards that swap one mana for two, or let you pull land out of your deck it's cost is still able to played pretty fast, and it lets you eliminate your opponents board while increasing your own for BBB, which could be nice for those creatures your opponent has that cost just as much as Kalitas that's giving you a bit of trouble in the game.

A bit high to cast but otherwise extremely fun to use.

Maybe for one more mana, they could have added FLYING. Would have been Baron Sengir like card.

Totally dominates in EDH format... But, it's waaaay too slow anywhere else. It's great though that it doesn't suffer from the typical {B} targetting restrictions such as: Destroy target nonblack, nonartifact, or target tapped creature; which is why it works sooo well if you do manage to actually play him.

I don't see why this guy is a mythic rare. He's a 5/5 for 7 mana which is fair I guess, but his ability is awful. Pay 3 & TAP to destroy an opponent's creature & get your own w/o it's ability. Since he has to tap, he's basically a mind control for double the mana. Sure I guess you could combo it w/ Noctunus, Blade of the Bloodchief, or even Kalastria when your clones die, it's just the fact you have to tap a 5/5 that bothers me.
