the 2 best methods I've found to get this active quickly is 1)Retrace mechanic, 2)Mill yourself; e.g. Book Burning, Mesmeric Orb, etc.

Coupled with Quest for Pure Flame, this card makes any red damage deck one of the scariest decks to face, period.

A very powerful card, I use 4 of them in my Red deck and its sweet!!!!

Lately the Japanese have come out with a incredible control deck, based upon this single card. The deck at full power with 4 of these in play is horrifying to say the least. Nothing like getting cruel ultimate'd 8 times in 2 turns, or time warping for almost 12 turns, certainly one of the most powerful enchantment spells ever printed. Just imagine all the neat combos with a play set of them out. Now on the competitive level the Pyromancer Ascension Control deck or P.A.C. (Might even be the future 5CC) as it is famously now called is extremely dangerous, they can win games fast with or without the enchantment, but the enchantment really does give the deck its god like winning power. So far the standard format as of 2009, has been limited, but as time goes by maybe this card will be combo'd with more powerful instants and spells then we ever have imagined. All in all this is a must have for any one still trying to figure out what to do with their Grixis Control Decks. (Add 4 of these babies and make magic) 5 stars.

My favorite card to pair this with is probably Chandra Ablaze. Looks to me like they were made for each other.
