This card speaks for itself. Combine it with your favourite 2-mana instants and have fun owning your opponents.
Here are some of mine: Boomerang, Echoing Truth, Counterspell, Mana Leak, Incinerate and Doomblade, but take my advice: choose your cards wisely when you're using Isochron Scepter - if you're playing with friends, they'll eventually get bore by you constantly bouncing their lands with Boomerang or killing all of their creatures with Incinerate and Doomblade/Terror ... try to get innovative; impring a Giant Growth or Colossal Might. or maybe even Otherworldly Journey to make the game more fun instead of doing obvious "i win" actions.

I roll my eyes whenever someone declares a card "Dead" simply due to a another card existing that can distroy it. By that logic, Counterspell has made just about every card ever printed "Dead." Pull your head out of your rear ends. This card is pure GOLD. The possible win condition combos this thing is capable of pulling off are nearly endless. Something as unassuming as an Imprinted Dream's Grip can totally muck up an opponents game when combo with someone like Master Decoy, or even Angelic Page. Five HUGE stars.

@Ricky from Texas: Isochron is an exact imprint of copied spell, where the specified mana cost now becomes 2-colorless. In the case of Orim's Chant, your 1-white mana casting cost is now 2-colorless; however, you MAY opt to play the 1-white kicker cost in addition since it's imprinted on Isochron.

"Khurtz" is right, but all you say is about to destroy or even make this card looks not good at all. If you have deck that contains Fire/Ice and Disenchant, it's clear that your deck can beat this card. But if you face the Planeswalker deck, many cards of your deck are useless... I just want to say, if you want to talk about sideboard or "anti-deck", this talk will never ends! There's no one perfect card in the magic... they should have some weakness. The perfect cards like Time Walk, Ancestrall Recall, etc are banned or restricted to bring the meta gaming back to normal.

whats up with everyone and putting sorcery's time walk and someone mentioned fireball (even though x would be zero o.O) but yes this card has nearly limitless combos i personally like ancestral recall or orams chant (not sure if you can still pay kickers or not though but none the less it shuts down everything but instants or creatures on the board). Another good uncommon that came out of this set (now a rare) was the warhammer.

Has anyone seen the new set? Silence is insane with this card. My friend already uses an Iona to keep you from playing a certain color but you can get around that. This card with Silence and you wont ever get another turn... It's like a nightmare. Quiet possibly the best combo ever, and the cheapest.

I've been trying to break this card for a while, and just when I thought I had failed, I got it: Holy day! If you can play a Suntail Hawk or something and kill your opponent's creatures that have flying (terror works...how many flying creatures are black?), you can fog *each turn* while pinging your opponent with your suntail hawk or whatever random flying/shadow/fear/evasive creature you decide to use. it's also beastly with twincast, although not as much.

check your official rules again, you CAN pay the kicker cost by playing this with Isochron Scepter. With kicker this is a 2cc spell, and still legal for the Scepter to cast it, so it will lock your opponent the hell out of the game unless they can get through your counter-wall to destroy it.

I guarantee.

that is why Chant is so damned annoying.

Great card, you would hate to see it in an instant heavy deck.

I have 4 of these in my white deck. Its saved me completely on multiple occasions. My favorite combination is using this with lifeburst. That's up to 16 life per turn at the cost of 2 mana. The combinations of using this card with instants are virtualy limitless. Another one of my favorites is annoying the crap out of my opponent by using this with disenchant or demistify. Counter, counter, counter, win. Good card, worth the money.

A shame timewalk is an instant and will not work, aside from counterspell, my favorite card for this is ancestral recall.

In my opinion the best way to frustrate an opponent is with Angel's Grace
no matter what you do.. i Don't loose if i have 2 mana untapped
Thats just ridiculous

What is it with Mirrodin and their absurd uncommons? First skullclamp, and now this... Most rares do not have this many possibilities.

Umm... counterspell is a interrupt, so I don't think you could use it because the scepter says it has to be an instant. Same goes with the dark ritual. You wouldn't want to put a ritual on it anyways all it would do is turn it into a black mox.

Umm... four of these is a must have in any deck. Quite possibly one of the most powerful cards ever made if played right. With a chant or a time on this thing the game is completely locked down. With the right mana cards in your opening hand this is a possible lock from turn 1. Win before your opponent even gets to play... This card is way too overpowering for vintage, and will beyond the shadow of a doubt be banned. I can't even see them just restricting this card. Either way i got four of them for the time being that i switch out ad put in all my decks. Works great in a blue control/counter/bouncy deck. Also works great in a green weenie/inflate deck. Slap a berzerk on this thing and go crazy. Will work wonders for almost any deck however. Be wary, banned list here you come!

This is my all time favorite MTG card. I own over 20 of these, and 7 of them are foil. This card is almost like a Twincast or Fork on steroids.

Sorry... I made a mistake in my review above. I said cryptic command,I meant memory lapse.
I think memory lapse would be one of the most devastating cards to combo with isochron scepter.

This card is so unbelievably broken it's not even funny aside the P9 one of the best cards in the game, so many uses. I have seen a sol ring Isochron with a boomerang on it first turn complete control. Also throw an Orim's chant on this stick, and you have them W2 each turn no attacking, no playing spells, counterspell, diabolic edict, brain freeze the list goes on, and on, and on. This card is unbelievable.

You could not have unlimited mana by using it with dark ritual. notice that you have to tap it to use it. at most you could have 4 dark rituals imprinted on four difference scepters. however, a very usefull card none the less..

Excellent card 2 use this is a truly amazing card! But some of the best instants that go with this card are lightning helix, counterspell, boomerang, twincast, remand, I'm not entirely sure but I think the converted mana cost of double cards = both card's converted mana cost divided by 2... if that true then try odds//ends and even fire//ice.

All of you are saying,"It would be good with this. It would be good with that." The reality is this card is waaaaay overpowered and I've never seen or heard of a deck that this card wouldn't fit in. Of course counterspell is the best card for this. No one can argue that. I don't care who you are.

ohhhhh sweetness.......will they restrict or ban this card? maybe! copy orims chant and what happens to the kicker? would it still have to be paid? i think it would be for the fact it is an additional resolution to the original spell> Can any one help on this though. ORIMS CHANT ORIMS CHANT ORIMS CHANT!!!! and use 2 or more of these by the way in you deck to try to get 2 in play!

You really want an evil thing to do...

Get a 'Fork' and put that on your Isochron. Then get a 'Panoptic Mirror' out and imprint a direct damage card (Carbonize or Incinerate, possibly even a Sizzle). Then you play your card on Panoptic Mirror each turn for free, then you Fork it, also...If you have a Mirari out, you can kill just about anyone or anything in one turn for usually about 5 or 8 mana. I like imprinting a Red Elemental Blast onto it if I'm playing a Blue deck also. A permanent red card that can destroy blue permanents or counter blue spells.

It's a very evil card >_<

If I could rank it higher I would. My 2 have counter spell and disenchant on them. Though terror works nice, and to you sickos using fog on it....I hate you all. If you haven't seen panoptic mirror you should look it up. Isochron and Panaoptic together can be wrong in so many ways.

I put this in my affinity black/red deck with shrapnel blasts, terminates, bolts, and forks. It can be pretty mean with skullclamps to keep drawing cards.

Arg this card is so annoying and powerful... I give it 5 stars because of that. No wonder counterspell isn't in Type II. This card is an absolute threat in extended though. I've played some long and irritating duels with guys who base their whole decks around Counterspells, Boomerangs, Æther Bursts, and other annyoing instants attached to this evil stick. Take caution when playing in the Extended season, and make sure to carry a few artifact destroying cards in your sideboard!

This card is really great. It has a million uses (shock, terror, lightning bolt, disenchant, giant growth, counterspell, boomerang, healing salve, dark ritual, fists of the anvil, divergent growth). It's also great because if you're willing to risk it you could put a boomerang in a mono-red burn deck or a healing salve in a mono-black deck.

This Mirrodin Artifact is far one of the strongest and most fexible cards i've ever seen.
You can use it with Mana Leak, Accumulated Knowledge, Counterspell, and and and.
It gives you so much unbelievable strong combos, you just have to try out that one.
You won't regret it.

What'll it be? A permanant counterspell? A boomerang? a lightingbolt? Snap? Terror? Disenchant? FOG?
these are just a few of the wonderfully broken things that you can do with this power-card.
Definitely a useful card. i recomend it. now if i could just get my hands on more of these...

This card makes counterspell and dicrect damage decks almost unstoppable! One only has to remove a 2 casting (or less) instant from the game to have it as an artifact ability! Can you say Counterspell, Boomerang and Lightning Bolt?

How about white Disenchant or green Giant Growth?

Another amazing card from an amazing set!

this card is great for balck and white decks!! its great for black decks cause all you have to do is throw away a terror in your hand or a diabloic edict and you have a exclent attack or defnse chance for just 2 colorless mana and white because then you can cast a balnce any time bascallly

I'm surprised it hasn't been banned yet. I believe it's overpowered. 1st to all those saying timewalk. Look up your cards!!!!! Timewalk is a SORCERY... wait, what? Oh that's right that isn't infinite turns... nice try though. Second, check out the official rulings... by the way you CAN'T play kicker costs, Orim's Chant is therefore only good for preventing spell play for a turn - still a douche bag thing to do nonetheless. If you really wanna be a douche bag, boomerang second turn, then you're opponent has as little as 2-3 mana to work with for the entire game... that my friend takes the fun OUT of the game. What a stupid card. I still can't believe they didn't and haven't banned it. I refuse to play with anyone that uses this card in their decks. I think it's worse than any of the P9!

.....Sorry everyone but this card is dead. Dead dead dead. It was good until a little card called Krosan Grip was printed, although before that all you really needed to do was respond to Orim's chant with a disenchant effect or, my personal favorite, play something like Fire/Ice and tap the scepter at the end of your opponents turn. If you're complaining about not having the correct color for instant speed artifact destruction (or bounce since you could use Wipe Away as well) you might want to check out Blinkmoth Well for your sideboard. This card is not all it's cracked up to be and although it was pretty amazing back in the day, it's kinda dead now. And seriously, stop suggesting sorcery cards and cards with greater than 2 casting cost. Ensnare? Come on dude.

I hate this card! it destroys the game of magic and should be banned. if you run 4 in one deck (because it's not only not banned it's not restricted either) you can dark ritual it in on the first turn and imprint counterspell...game over.
