I begin to love planeswalker since Wizards created Elspeth, Jace TMS, etc... they're so powerful, esp. when face agro deck. Even my legacy "Zoo deck" is easily beaten...

Elspeth and Jace TMS, together in battlefield, they're unbeatable!
-- By Anonymous from ??? on July 16, 2010
Elspeth is the beautiful planeswalker that always protect me from opposing creatures... thank you Elspeth...
-- By Anonymous from Cleveland on July 10, 2010
Meh... I agree with you man, Elspeth is the best planeswalker in white! In blue, I choose Jace the Mind Sculptor... Together, they are unbeatable....
-- By Anonymous from i on July 03, 2010
Ajani better than Elspeth? I think the one who say it must be banned in the game (^_^) If you use Ajani (by putting +1/+1 counter on each creatures, then that's a great idea. But you must remember, Ajani Goldmane is useless without creatures you control. What Ajani can do if your creatures wiped out by your opponent? Gain 2 Life? Not as strong as Elspeth I think. Elspeth can create her army all by itself... pump them... and give the opponent threat later in game (make all non-planeswalker permanents indestructible)! That's what Ajani Goldmane can't do... Becomes Avatar? Just Path to Exile or Terminate it... easy....

I want Elspeth to bear my love child. This card is a game winner in every way. Best planeswalker there is by far!

elspeth is super epic but has anyone heard of jace the mind scuptor look him up!
-- By jack from a place on April 14, 2010
currently the best planeswalker in standard. Eats blightning easily, both abilities give counters other than ultimate, able to support herself with chump blockers and can send em soaring over your opponents head if needed. while goldmane is incredible with weenie type decks, elspeth has many more uses and is invaluable when used to support solid decks.

Ryan from NYC... here is how the planeswalkers work... The number in the lower right (loyalty counters) is the number of counters it comes into play with. Each turn, including the turn you play it, you can use one of the abilities, but only one each turn. An up arrow indicates removing that many counters and a down arrow indicates adding them. An opponent can choose to attack your planeswalker just as if it were another player, and you can decide how to block with your creatures, just as if it was you that was being attacked. Damage dealt to a planeswalker removes that many loyalty counters from it, and if there are none left, the planeswalker goes to the graveyard. Planeswalker is a whole new permanent type, but if A spell or effect refers to target player or target permanent, it can also target a planeswalker. For example, you could play an Oblivion Ring or a Fireball on a planeswalker, but not a Terror or Disenchant. Also, planeswalkers cannot attack or block. Hope that answers your questions.

Please disregard my previous statement, I looked around and found out the Foil Elspeth is also about $50 (Like Tezzeret). Oh well, I still love it. And who doesnt like a shiny plansewalker?
-- By Smeagle from Everett, WA. USA on June 17, 2009
OMG I just opened premium Elspeth. My friend opened a premium Tezzeret last month (worth about $50) and Elspeth is worth like 3 times more in non-premium sales. O.o If anyone is interested in buying it, I'd be happy to mail it, but I'd only sell it for like $100 buck unless I find out its not worth that much. *Shrug* Anyways, I love this card.

im just returning to magic since i was a kid and was playing revised edition...lots of new rules...im trying to build a deck and have zero help doing it...im playing white/green/blue with a touch of black in some creatures...can someone explain how the planeswalkers work with loyalty or whatever it is...i though is was life so iguess im an idiot...can anyone help me???
-- By ryan from NYC on June 09, 2009
hey Greg from here - yes, every permanent you control for the rest of the game is indestructable- even played after her final power is activated.
-- By Mike from VA on March 17, 2009
Aside from the Bolas, this is the planeswalker to have. It has nothing to do with what she does but how she does it. Every other 'Walker (at this point, March '09) has two ways of removing counters and one way to add them, this card has two ways to add them and one way to remove them. This may at first seem like a subtle and mute point when compared to what they all do for there costs, it is neither. The sheer reversal of the math is so severe it cannot go without comment. (And lets face the horror, giving your creature plus 3 all around and flying is RARELY mute.) Worth every penny, but buy soldier tokens when ordering.
-- By Azmodeus Lore from Dark Heart of the Wood on March 04, 2009
To anyone who thinks otherwise check the ruling after you play her last ability everything you control other than planeswalkers indestructible for the rest of the game regardless of if she is play or when you play the permanents. If you want to see how good she is check out some of the decks that are using her.
-- By Anonymous from Florida on February 05, 2009
well, she builds up tokens to defend herself with, and she makes your creatures evasive and big (evasiveness is hard to come by in white weenie, besides spectral procession), but her 3rd ability is not only really expensive, it's just not a game-winner. combined with wrath of god it can be helpful, but compare it to the other "big" abilities: 10 damage to your opponent's face and all of their creatures; overrun; bring back all creatures in all graveyards; a huge token; destroy *all of your opponent's lands.* those are most definitely game winners. making your stuff indestructible...isn't. stuff that comes into play after the ability isn't even indestructible. that being said, she's still pretty good.
-- By Greg from here on January 19, 2009
I think perhaps most people are missing the most important aspect of this card. Elspeth is hot. You know you would.
-- By Ben Taylor from Londres on January 17, 2009
best planeswalker to date, people just dont really know how good elspeth is, but when anyone ever pull this planeswalker out, i know that it is going to be the primary target, it pops out defenders and gives the boost to other creatures, i own five of them, so i know how good this planeswalker is, it should be in any white deck
-- By xang yang from visalia, ca on December 18, 2008
Definitely pro. Puts out chump blockers with its first ability, and the second makes your chumps bigger. Or your bigger cretures, well, bigger. And its final ability is a game winner. None of your stuff being able to be destroyed? Possibilities are endless. I'd pick up 4 fast, prices are sure to shoot up after they get used to wins tourneys...
-- By That PhiL kid from Russellville, Ky USA on October 27, 2008
Eslpeth is better in many decks than Ajani Goldmane, but she does have a few serious flaws.
While she is the first and thus far only PW to have two abilities that add loyalty tokens (and they are both relevant), her ultimate power is very hard to activate outside of a game headed toward stalemate or comboed with something like clockspinning or Doubling Season. She also lacks some of the splashy second abilities like Garruk or Ajani. She makes up for that by having a very powerful add ability second, but an ability that may be useless if you aren't on the attack.
She fits will in most decks, especially weenie decks, but only a few tournament caliber decks will splash white just for her (they're more likely to splash for o-ring).

Sgood Card. Sgood? Sgood.
-- By Anonymous from Cleveland Ohio on October 22, 2008
I got this card on saturday since my friend got me into playing magic barley 2 weeks ago and i got this in the premordial jund pack and i totally flipped out because it was a plainswalker! its so good! it owns and my bros are jealous of it.=)
-- By Anonymous from San Diego,ca usa on October 13, 2008
i got this in the prereleases and it caused my opponent to resign twice! it is a very good card but people tend to try to get rid of it quickly... but then you get some extra time to do what you want! good in a token deck i guess but i have never tryed it...
-- By Anonymous from USA on October 07, 2008
This may be the best plainswalker to date. Both her primary and secondary abilities are very good, as they allow for a gain in loyalty tokens, and it's always a plus to bring out a soldier creature or give an existing creature a flying power boost. The final ability may be a gamewinner for you as it makes permanents you control nearly invulnerable...if you manage to get her loyalty that high. The downside is that you need 8 loyalty to do this effect, and knowing its power, she's going to get targeted by anything and everything your opponent has in his/her deck. Hey, if nothing else, your opponent will focus on Elspeth and leave you alone.
-- By rogonandi from Edmonton, Canada on October 04, 2008
best white planeswalker EVER! this, with o-ring and spectral procession, makes white not only playable, but good. get a free creature, AND build towards an impervious army? what more could you ask for? how bout an airborne finisher that STILL ADDS! pure, unadulterated white perfection, for four mana, just like always.
