This card is liked for one reason: it combines 2 cards into 1, giving you more deck space. It doesn't cost less mana than the origionals (counterspell and healing solve) but because you save deck slots by not having to include the healing solve, this card has won enormous popularity.

This card is definitely a winner! If your playing blue and you have a splash of white, this is a great card. As it costs the usual two blue mana (for a counterspell), but then for just one white mana, you can get yourself three life! A good bargain. Highly recomended for a blue/white deck.

My second favorite card in Invasion after undermine. Absorb drags the game on longer but undermine ends the game quicker. A great card nonetheless.

Very good card, saved my life a few times. However, if you're playing blue, you shouldn't be too concerned with your life total. You should be concerned about control. So what if your opponent Urza's Rages you down to 10 life, if you gain control, that's the key. The one extra turn to lay down a Plains for Absorb could cost you control. Four stars.

All in all itīs an ok counterspell since it costs 3 cmc and you get 3 lives, but since itīs a 2 color card it only gets 4 stars from me.
There is however another card that makes this card a real five-star in my book, sunforger. I know that this could be stated about any card but since an equip:ed sunforger gives the player a counterspell that, not only doesnīt cost any blue mana, but also doesnīt need to be in your hand makes it a combo I just love.. although itīs only casual.
