*** I use these instead of Thran Dynamo in most of my Brown decks because they are like $4 cheaper, and I can play this turn 1-3 much more easily than the 4CMC Dynamo. Yes, Dynamo is still better. But, the fact that I can start benefitting {2}mana 1-3 turns sooner is nothing to scoff at. Easiest way to get around the "CIPT" is using Amulet of Vigor if you're interested.

*** i know that reviewers in national publications used to spit on this card and revile it. over time and with the waves of bans and restrictions i believe this card is once again a viable tournament card. i play an all brown 1.5 deck with four of these babies and i always get shocked looks and lines like,"you're playing with that?!" yes, i am. all my lands except four tap for double or triple mana('mishra's workshop of course) and a turn one or two 'worn powerstone' can really get the wheels greased and running. late in the game its not uncommon to activate them using 'karn, silver golem' if i don't need the 15-20 mana i've got lying around. in conclusion, i believe this card deserves a second look as it can fill a niche quite adequately if your deck is the right fit for it.........
