It was the best present I could get.

I think it is great that they brought back the gold cards, I have built a solid deck using them.

This set is extremely unfair. With cards like Spiritmonger (5 mana for a 6/6 regenerator that gets 1/1 counters whenever it damages a creature), Penumbra Wurm (a 6/6 trampler for 7 that comes back when it dies as a black copy), Quicksilver Dagger (3 mana; tap the creature to deal a damage to any player and draw a card; a common!), this set is amazing. I think that this set is probably the best set that Wizards of the Coast made. What they could have possibly been thinking when they made this, I don't know. Also, for the story of Apocalypse, they kill off Gerrard and Urza, and even Yawgmoth. This set is a must-have for any Magic player, novice or expert. It's incredible!

Definitely one of the best sets in the history of magic. Excellent cards with no huge broken rares. I counted the amount of good rares and came up with something like 25 (out of 44). More than half! Great way to get many of the top rare cards in Type 2.

Yes, yes, the set is amazing...but I'll get to that in a moment. The thing I like most about this product is the same thing that I like about any new set. I like to avoid spoilers, and to crack a fresh box the day the set comes out. It's like having christmas!! Its nice to go through a box and actually read the commons as you open them, get excited about the artwork, etc. before becoming hardened and cynical to the point of opening booster packs, pulling out the back 4 cards and throwing the rest away.
That aside, this set is as powerful and useful as the hype makes it out to be. The gold cards are crazy and full of good times. The opposing painlands help to bring in some new archetypes by steadying their mana-bases. I hope to see a lot of green-blue and blue-red come july. Apocalypse is a breath of fresh air.

What were they thinking??? I haven't the slightest clue. Spiritmonger? Vindicate? Pernicious Deed? These cards will make any opposing color deck a beast! Not to mention the five new opposing pain lands. Theres a little bit of something for every deck in this set, check out Mystic Snake, Prophetic Bolt, Desolation Angel, Death Grasp, Phyrexian Arena, Suffocating Blast and Spectral Lynx. Geez the list goes on! The card distribution is amazing! Buying a box is a great way to get at least one of every good rare in the set! Not to mention, Troll and Toad is the most reliable and reasonably priced on the net. What more could you want?

This is my favoirte magic exspansion yet!! Its not only powerful, but it also has tons of multicolored cards. I love the new rare land cards like Battlefield Forge it not only has the creature it has the land too!! This set also has a some new flying creatures like the multicolored Lightning Angel.

I couldn't have asked for a better set... Some of the great new cards include new enemy-color pain lands.... Yes, Green and Black (Llanowar Wastes), Red and White (Battlefield Forge), and three others, make their way into the type-2 arena. In my opinion, one of the most powerful removal spells in the game has been added. Vindicate, for 1BW. Sorcery. Destroy target permanent. WHAT!!?!?!? #(*%!!!!!
I believe the BEST part of this set is the multi-colored series.... Enemy colored cards haven't made an appearance since Visions, if I remember correctly, or maybe Stronghold... Regardless, Apocalypse is going to revolutionize the playing field, and not just type 2. Extended will see many new ideas, and many people will be tempted to start playing with three colors in tournaments! I did, and won the prerelease tournament in my local area. RWB BABY!

As an on-and-off Pro Tour player, I can say without hesitation that Apocalypse is groundbreaking for several reasons. First, it reverses the trend of allied-color cards, with such powerful 'enemy' golds as Vindicate, Spiritmonger, and Pernicious Deed. These cards will simply be must-haves for years to come. Furthermore, I have counted the rares in the set which would qualify as 'playable'--and this set has a higher percentage than any expansion in recent history. Basically, it's quite profitable to open booster boxes of Apocalypse, with a mind to getting the new Painlands or the other great rares. I haven't purchased a box of sealed product since Visions (which had terrible rares), but this set is making me reconsider that policy rather heavily.
