Avarice Totem.
check it out on the gahterer.

Tap 10, trade control of it with an opponent. Not having 10 mana? try Urza lands and Extraplanner lenses.

Slightly high casting cost for a creature that's supposed to come in and have a power/toughness advantage with some drawback. I prefer Steel Golem... but I guess it doesn't matter. I think those two cards are good in non-creature decks, such as red burn or blue decks. Take out their creatures with red burn, and attack them with the Grid, and then destroy it with Shrapnel Blast = 9 points of damage!!!!!! OR, if you have this out and your opponent has a bunch of weak creatures out, the Grid turns into a wrecking ball, allowing you to hit them with more direct damage, and finish them off in the next few turns. Awesome card, lots of fun if you can figure out the strategy.

you think this can't be good? play this card, then donate it to a creature heavy opponent..

it's no good of course if you play an all creature deck, but with mono black decks, all you need is him. 4 colorless mana for a 4/6. Equipped with Nightmare Lash and hes huge. he is still a useful card depending on your deck.

He requires a deck being built around him to actuallt "work", and I have seem similar cards like Steel Golem run in decks just for the reason that you get an efficent, low-cost beatstick and blocker that's not so easy to get rid of. If you're just playing four or three of him in a deck with all noncreature spells, great, but his ability is so debilitating that I gave him a three instead of five.
