This is amazing. you can dark ritual, entomb iona, then either reanimate or exhume on turn one. any mono color deck will concede before their first turn. death's gate, godsire, prince of thralls, verdant force, are some ideas i have. but all in all very powerful.

Excellent card, but if you don't quite have the money for this, Buried Alive is an excellent alternative. Not as quick, sure, but can be used on turn 1 with a Ritual and it puts up to 3 into the graveyard, not just one. I used them all the time in an old reanimator deck with Brood of Cockroaches and Necrosavants for support.

If I had the money to spare, then 4 of those 9 in stock would be mine. I have dreams dancing in my head of a turn 1 dark rit entomb exhume of Iona, then turn 2 hardcast my painters servant for ultimate lockdown! (granted with all the new colourless stuff coming out its not ULTIMATE lockdown, but all that new colourless stuff costs a million anyway, and with a 7/7 flyer inhibiting your every move from turn 1 you're pretty much pooched :D)

You can get anycard from your library and put in your graveyard with entomb. Even with protection from black, as protection is, normally, an ability of a creature as it is in play. Note that some cards when put in the graveyard from the library are shuffled in the library instead of being put in the graveyard, entomb is useless with them. Check Gaea's Blessing, Serra Avatar, Progenitus and etc...

About puting into play a creature with protection from black, you can do it with Exhume, Reanimate, Live//Death, Soul Exchange, Living Death and etc. However using enchantaments such as Animate Dead, Dance of the Dead and Necromancy will only put him into play, because those enchantamets work like this:
Come in play as a enchantament (old global enchantament), and to choose and put in play a creature from a graveyard into play.
Then when the creature comes into play, that enchantamente will became an aura enchantament(old local enchantament, Enchant Creature) saying to attach himself to that creature put in play that way.
Creatures with protection from black, can't have black enchantaments attached to it. So the aura will be burried and the creature will die as the aura is destroyed.
Note that those cards don't say attach to TARGET creature, say attach to the creature put into play that way, so you can bring back guys with shroud, like Multani Maro-Sorcerer, Simic Sky Swallower, Empyrial Archangel and etc...

Question.
Can this card be used to put a protection against
black card into your graveyard like a spirit of the night.
If yes can you then use exhume on the pro-black creature, or animate dead?

This card used to be InSaNiTy, then it got restricted in type 1, and banned in type 1.5!
It's a tiny little buried alive, with this card, and exhume, you can get out an Akroma Angel of Wrath on turn two!!!
If you play type 1 Reanimator, This card is a MUST!

Amazing card but im surprised your deck is undeafeted simply because of the fact that there are innocent bloods and diabolic edicts out there.

this card I broke so bad that when they restricted it I cried. turn 1 dark ritual, duress, entomb, reainmate, Akroma Angle of wrath.
Or maybe dark ritual entomb exhume. Which ever you prefer. Please unrestrict.

This is a great new addition to the reanimator decks, but what reviewer 2 says about the Serra Avatar cannot happen becuase Serra Avatar never stays in the graveyard! :p But he is right about the exhume with another beef creature, maybe Spirit of the Night or Verdant Force or even Thorn Elemental.

This card has definite potential. With such a cheap casting cost, it's a perfect card for any reanimation deck. It also makes a great combo that can get you any creature in your deck, into play, on your first turn. This is how it works: Lay down a swamp, and tap it to play a dark ritual. cast your entomb and put the best creature card from your deck into your graveyard. Then, with the remaining two black in your pool, cast exhume. The best thing about this combo, is that all the cards are commons except for entomb, making it fairly easy to pull off. A first turn Serra Avatar is often enough to make people concede. The possiblitites are endless.

Review 2 can switch Serra Avatar with any other creature thats huge, such as Bethemeth Behemeth(my fav. card), any of the Avatars or a good old Sengir, Serra Angel or Archangel. Only prob. is the chance of starting with those cards (that's y rated a 4)
