I love this card. I use his first effect with Prototype Portal to spam my field with Steel Oversser, Rusted Relic, Contagion Engine or Parasitic Strix while I contol a black permanent. It'd also be cool to do it with Hovermyr. I also use his second effect to search out Prototype Portal or Contagion Engine. One time I was proliferating him so heavyly that I need a 20 sided dice to measure his loyalty counters

I use to use him to untap the transmuter until they all went out of type 2 now I use the thousand year elixer for what is now an extended deck. I never even touch the -5 ability. I like the duel deck picture better and its shiny. The post above is saying get a land each turn using the -X because the lands have a mana cost of zero. Shatterstorm messes the whole having all artifacts for lands, unless you throw in Terra Eternal with it.

i use him with darksteel juggernaut. the deck only has artifact lands, so use his -x ability to pull out all those lands. juggernaut can be a 5/5 at least when he comes out, but is usually bigger anyway, and then keep playing the -x building him up by a maximum of two, one being from the land you dropped initially and the seconds from the -x. i own four of him. favorite planeswalker.

Time Sieve with open the Vaults rocks standard. But just think if ya had a set of moxes, and affinity deck with artifact lands....his 3rd ability could hit with every other card you have in the deck, tutor for anything. Ban material

Incredible. With my artifact deck, if you haven't won turn five then you either will soon, or are holding up well, and this card gives the perfect push. with any mana excel (which artifacts are good at; sol ring, lotus petal, etc.) you can get him out even faster, and playing with artifact lands, he gains garruk's first ability of untaping two lands, and even just untaping two artifacts helps a ton, especially with artifact creatures such as tide hollow strix so you can swing in the air and have annoying deathtouch blockers. His minus ability can help, like getting a master of etherium out right away for a big blocker (especially with artifact lands) that also buffs your other creatures, or just get a sculpting steel out to double any artifact in play, and tez still stays around for more, and you can even take 0 counters off him to get an artifact land into play or an ornothopter, which can all later become 5/5's and topple your enemies forces. Perfect planeswalker.

he's not slow at all, he goes off the same turn as garruk and sarkhan. and he's in blue which makes him better, especially with the new borderpost cards from alara reborn. by turn 6 you only need a couple borderposts to win the game, so just cast you're cryptic command, use his final and swing for the win turn 6. Great finisher for mono blue.

i pulled a foil out of a booster box and it owns. great in an esper deck or a mirrodin block artifact deck. only problem is i wont be using the foil version in a deck. amazing card otherwise.

the Tezz-meister-general OWNs! it's great to crack him in draft and then build an esper artifact deck around him!

I have already three of the planeswalker cards. They are indeed very useful especially in tight situations. And if you have an artifact deck...such as myself. :] Ha ha ha.

One of the best planeswalkers especially for type 1. Could see him restricted already.

Legacy player get em fast! This is probably already being banned/restricted in extended. Think mana vault with this guy....insane. Affinity was broken, this guy is pulverized or something. Will be gone so get him quick.

@arthor it says "search your library for AN artifact with converted mana cost x or less" not as many cards as you want. just one.

If you're worried about speed being a factor for Tezzeret as a win condition in vintage or legacy, drop some Dark Rituals in your deck. If you're locking your opponent with Force of Will, Daze, Countertop, or whatever, you can cast him on turn 3 without much worry. If you're running artifact lands and Mishra's Factories, you could reasonably have a win on turn 4 or turn 5. Be sure to include cheap creature elimination in case your opponent slips some through; running a Planeswalker as your sole win condition is risky, but do-able. I'm currently testing out a deck based on this strategy.

@ above reviewer: good argument. I could see this going in sideboards for affinity decks to have something against the Null Rod, however I could see other deck types being faster in vintage and legacy

I agree that this card doesn't have place in the Affinity deck. But Affinity deck has a lot of weakness since many people using Null Rod as sideboard..... Tezzeret give your "locked" artifacts (by Null Rod) the access to become 5/5 creatures and attack!!!

This guy is very useful mostly with his first ability. Untapping 2 artifact is a really big help.
second abitity, unless you really need the card I would not waste time using this.
Third ability is very useful only in a artifact deck. Can get some low casting artifacts out and make them all 5/5's

I can almost see this being played in an Esper control deck. Almost. If someone came up with a game-winning combo using this card, I'll definitely see it being played.

Still, if you're running artifacts in Type 1.X, you'd be better off running RAffinity; and at 5 cost, this has no place in RAffinity.
