Mindslaver and this card can make all the difference even if the opponent sacrificed a only a couple permanents.

The best strategy for this deck is definitely Life from the Loam + Mana Bond. That gaurantees you dropping 3 permanents each turn. If you Loam for a land with cycling, you can drop 5+ lands each turn easily while the other player die to Smokestack.

An excellent card to combine it with turn-skipping cards like Eater of Days, Waterspout Elemental, etc. Giving your opponents free turns can be pretty risky, so sticking them with a smokestack with 3+ counters on it can cripple them during their extra turns.

this card is amazingly underrated. a deck built around it can kill your opponents speed and tempo. a deck called Uba Stax uses this card as a lock down card along with other cards to create an unbreakable lock, this deck has been dominating tournaments for awhile. i truly don't think this cards full potential has been explored.

Amazing card. Capable of either enabling or being the centerpiece of so many control or combo decks. The guy above explained it pretty well, however, I don't agree on one point. This card just screams "Put me in a green control deck". Think about it, what color has the fastest clock for putting permanents (and a lot of them) on the table? Green my friends, green. Likewise, besides blue, green is by far the best card drawing color. So add those to factors together, and you get the picture. One could also use green's plethora of land destruction spells to, you know, make it more interesting, or annoying, depending on which side of the table you're on.

once again, your helpful reviewer(moi) explains ignored cards that really shouldn't be. a personal favorite of mine and i'll explain in detail hoping troll and toad doesn't trim me too much.
early in the game(turns2-4) real good.
more permanents: wind up the armageddon clock.
certain permanents untouchable?(green,i'm talking to you...) crank up the 'stack, but i think you're getting the picture. the only downside is,well, obviously superfast weenie, lockdown, or combo decks you're rolling the dice.
