Easy to summon 2400 attacker with free m/t removal. There's no reason to not run this card if your deck has a respectable number of darks. Also, keep in mind that is says, "Whenever this card is special summoned, destroy one magic or trap card." This means you still get to destroy a magic or trap even if he's special summoned by an effect other than his own, such as Monster Reborn or Call - good for you and also your opponent of he Reborns it against you, so keep that in mind!

it is easier to summon and cheaper than dark armed dragon. the perfect replacement

This card is very good in combination with the new blackwing archetype. with the ability to remove two, special summon and then an additional MST is always great. Furthermore, if your opponent chains bottomless or torrential you can chain icarus attack to kill two of their own cards, be it spells or traps, etc. great card in the new meta.

if your running a dark deck or have alot dark monsters this card is great simply because its easy to summon.
